University of Texas Safe Cycling Campaign
2011-2012

Development and implementation of a fifteen-month multi-disciplinary campaign aimed at creating a more equitable “mobility space” on the University of Texas campus in Austin. This work was centered in three components: education, advocacy, and infrastructure design. In a coordinated effort, eleven independent projects were developed and carried out with the help of students, faculty, staff and local community participants across four colleges and a number of university research centers, university service departments, and local community organizations. The projects included safety education information campaigns, community engagement events, research and development of a digital mapping interface, and various installation art projects. The work culminated in a public performance event and final campaign report providing recommended infrastructure improvements to the university’s campus planning department.
